Standing My Ground: Lessons from the COVID pandemic and the Path to Personal Health Freedom

Today, I stumbled upon a post from Fox 13 News in Utah that hit close to home. I couldn’t resist chiming in with a comment—check out the screenshots if you’re curious.

This one’s especially for my friends in Utah, but really for anyone who might roll their eyes at what I’m about to share.

Five years ago, during the height of the COVID pandemic chaos, I faced relentless pushback from fellow members of the LDS community. Why? Because I chose not to wear a mask or get vaccinated. It wasn’t just disagreement—it felt like outright attacks, over and over again.

Fast forward to now, and I’m hearing the same old talking points echoing from those who align with the state, government, and medical establishments about measles. , You know the drill: the scripted lines about what’s “safe” and what we “should do”, “You are willingly getting others sick”, “Your going to kill your grandma”, that one was my favorite, “are you ok with getting others sick because you wont…..”, But here’s the thing—I’ve lost all trust in those governmental medical systems. They’ve let me down one too many times, and I’m done handing over my well-being to them. Instead, I’ve taken my health into my own hands, and it’s been liberating. I found a doctor outside the mainstream system, one who aligns with my values. My daily routine revolves around natural remedies: herbs, vitamins, and wholesome, nutrient-packed foods. When my family gets sick—and hey, it happens—we tackle it the healthy way, steering clear of chemical-laden pharmaceuticals. And with some of the comments made, you would think I am walking around the city biting people like a zombie. Just like when anyone is sick, you don’t feel good enough to go around socializing, we call off work, we stay home, and we get better. Stop the excessive dramatics, move to LA, and get into acting if you believe your drama is needed.

It’s not always easy, but it’s empowering, and we’ve seen real results. This shift in how I live and think didn’t happen in a vacuum. It’s a direct response to how my family and I were treated by our own church community back then, yes, you, members of the most prominent church in Utah. Instead of the love and compassion we’re taught to embody, we were shunned like modern-day lepers—isolated, judged, and yes, we were cast out. I’m not exaggerating; it was painful and eye-opening.

Look, if you still put your faith in the medical establishment and believe it’s the best shield for you and your loved ones, that’s your prerogative—and I fully support your right to choose. But for me, I’ll never again let a church, fellow members, or any government dictate my beliefs or control my choices. Freedom starts with owning your health, and I’ve claimed mine.

What’s your story? I’d love to hear it in the comments.
